Unexpected road events, whether a minor parking scratch, a traffic collision, or a sudden mechanical issue, can happen to even the most experienced drivers. When operating a rental vehicle in Montenegro, knowing the correct procedures protects your safety and preserves your insurance coverage.
When renting from our fleet, you benefit from complimentary 24/7 roadside support. Below is the required step-by-step procedure mandated by law and rental agreements.
If an accident occurs or you notice new damage on the vehicle (including parking incidents):
Secure the Scene: Pull over safely, turn on hazard lights, wear a reflective safety vest, and place the warning triangle at a safe distance behind the vehicle.
Call the Police (122): Under Montenegrin Road Traffic Safety Law, a police report is mandatory for any traffic incident, regardless of how minor the damage may appear.
Notify Our Support Team: Contact our emergency number provided on your rental contract immediately to inform our agents.
This is the single most important rule when renting a car in Montenegro: Collision Damage Waiver (CDW/SCDW) is valid ONLY with an official police report.
Parking & Minor Scratches: Even if your parked vehicle is scratched while you are away, you must call the police (122) to file an official report.
Consequences of Skipping the Report: Returning a damaged vehicle without a police report invalidates insurance coverage, making the renter fully liable for repair costs.
Alcohol Testing: Police conduct mandatory breathalyzer tests on involved drivers. Driving under the influence voids all insurance policies automatically.
If a dashboard warning light illuminates or you experience a flat tire:
Stop Safely: Never continue driving with a red warning light active, as this can cause severe engine damage.
Call Roadside Assistance: Our team arranges immediate technical assistance. Depending on your location, we dispatch service personnel or provide a replacement vehicle at no extra charge (provided the issue was not caused by driver negligence).
Tire & Glass Damage: Changing a flat tire using the spare wheel or repair kit is the driver's responsibility unless specialized Glass & Tire protection (WWI) was added to your agreement.
